OCIS hired to construct all mechanical HVAC, utilities generation and distribution, electrical and fire-fighting systems in the new B61 quality control building.

Key facts of the project

Construction of mechanical systems for HVAC and fire-fighting to serve the new department.

The new building is composed of three laboratories floors plus a roof top penthouse and a basement, as described below:

  • Basement floor: housing site utilities distribution to B61, technical utilities generation, HVAC equipment and plants, waste management, centralized washing, archive, electrical substation
  • Ground floor: housing raw material, sample management laboratories and general changing rooms
  • First floor: housing finished product, seed control, sterility, microbiology and EM/Media testing laboratories
  • Second floor: housing cells, immunology laboratories and office area;
  • Penthouse: housing HVAC equipment and plants
  • A new refrigeration system for the production and distribution of chilled water
  • A new system for the production and distribution of hot water
  • Steam and condensate circuit to feed a new hot water producer
  • Installation of a liquid nitrogen line system to supply cryostats
  • Execution of gas extinguishing system for documentation archive room
  • Installation of fire hydrants and sprinkler circuits
  • Installation of medical gas lines
  • Execution of RX and NDT for welding log
